(Ringgold, Va.) — All seven people on board a church bus were transported to the emergency room after an accident on U.S. 58 Sunday.
Ringgold Volunteer Fire Chief Mike Neal says it happened about 5:37 p.m. in the 3500 Block of the South Boston Highway and left the westbound lanes blocked for about an hour and a half.
According to Neal, a westbound church bus returning to Danville from Clarksville left the road and slammed head-on into a tree.
All six passengers and the driver were transported to Sovah Health for treatment of what Neal said appeared to be non-life threatening injuries.
He said six of the seven occupants were still on board the bus when rescue crews arrived. One had to be cut from the wreckage.
Six units and 24 emergency responders helped with the treatment and transport. In addition to Ringgold, EMS personnel from Regional One and the Danville Life Saving Crew responded.
All of the injured are members of Greater United Church in Danville.
The accident was investigated by Virginia State Police
