(Henry County, Va.) – Multiple students were charged with making threats at Bassett High School Monday and two girls face felony counts in the incident, which Henry County authorities say was a hoax.

A news release from the Sheriff’s office says two students responsible for the threatening message have been identified and face felony charges of threatening to bomb or burn and misdemeanor charges of obstruction of justice. Both teens are being held at W.W. Moore Detention facility in Danville. The girls’ names are being withheld because both are under 18.

The pair was identified through the use of cameras at the school, which captured the event, as well as witness statements. According to the sheriff’s office, the two confessed that it was a hoax and there was never a threat to the students.

Law enforcement officers cleared the school and bomb-sniffing dogs searched the grounds. Virginia State Police assisted, along with units from the Virginia Tech and Blacksburg Police Departments.
