(Franklin Co., Va.) –The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a one-man crime spree that started with a multi-vehicle accident, followed by an abduction and a shooting.

Investigators say 55-year-old John Robert Eames of Rocky Mount crashed into two cars, shot into a pair of homes, and then put a gun to his head and pulled the trigger.

It started with a multi-car accident about 8:20 Wednesday night.

Police say Eames got out of his wrecked car and pointed a gun at the driver of a vehicle stopped in traffic. He got into the passenger seat of car and drove off.

15 minutes later, the Emergency Communications Center received a call from the Glade Hill section of the county about a man who was threatening a woman with a gun.

Eames reportedly shot into two homes before turning the gun on himself. He was then taken to the hospital and is in stable condition.

Police believe he abducted the woman at the traffic stop and later released her unharmed.

During their investigation, deputies responded to Dillard Lane in Rocky Mount for a well being check on 80-year-old Dillard Nolen. He was found dead inside the home.
