(Danville, Va.) — A house fire at 125 Lowell Street sent a family fleeing into the cold night, but no one was injured.

The first units to arrive reported heavy smoke and flames coming from the basement and first floor of the house. All of the occupants were out of the home when firefighters arrived.

Three engines, a ladder truck and two battalions were on the scene for two hours to put out the blaze. The cause is still under investigation. The Danville Life Saving Crew responded, along with the Haz-Mat team and Fire Marshal.

The family is being assisted by the Red Cross.
