DANVILLE, Va. – The Danville Police Department is warning the public about a group of thieves known as the “Felony Lane Gang;” however, Police Lt. Richard Chivvis says there is no indication that the group is active in Danville. He said the group has been involved in recent thefts in the Triad area of North Carolina and police want to make Danville residents aware of their activities.

Officers are going door-to-door in south Danville neighborhoods alerting residents about the gang. The group is comprised of both males and females of all ages and races. According to police, gang members target cars and steal anything of value, including pocketbooks, guns and electronics.

Female gang members are known to steal purses and then cash checks worth thousands of dollars using stolen identification and credit cards.  Males in the gang enter cars through unlocked doors or smash windows and remove anything of value.

Police say the gang members canvass neighborhoods, peering into car windows and opening doors on any vehicles that are unlocked.

Anyone noticing suspicious activity in and around cars or homes should call the Danville Police Department immediately.
