(Halifax County, Va.) — While tornadoes touched down in Franklin and Bedford Counties last Friday, the National Weather Service has determined that the storm damage in Halifax County was caused by straight line wind.

Most of the damage was reported along Mt. Laurel Road in Halifax County. Winds reached speeds of up to 100 mph with a path length of just over one mile.

The straight line wind snapped a number of trees as the storm moved north, ending just north of Mt. Laurel Road in Halifax County.

Another storm in the northern end of Halifax County also caused damage on Friday.
