(Danville, Va.) — Danville firefighters were called to the scene of a house fire in the 17-hundred block of North Main Street early Tuesday morning.

A large, frame house at 1707 North Main was left standing but damaged heavily by fire. Crews were dispatched just after 1:00 Tuesday morning and were still on the scene five hours later.

The house was gutted by fire and police and the fire marshal were called to the address, which is located at the intersection of North Main and Clement Avenue.

There was no word on a cause.
