(Roanoke, Va.) — Virginia State Police are investigating after a man was shot Wednesday during a confrontation with two Roanoke police officers.

Roanoke Police responded to a home in the 3000 block of Cove Road Northwest at around 9 a.m. Wednesday after receiving a domestic disturbance call.

As officers were attempting to arrest a man, a fight broke out. One of the officers fired his gun and the man was hit.

The man was taken to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital by ambulance for treatment of what state police described as serious but not life-threatening injuries.

State police say neither officer was hurt in the confrontation.
