(Martinsville, Va.) – Virginia State Police have issued a critically missing adult alert for a missing Martinsville man believed to have been kidnapped from his home.

Martinsville Police say 88-year-old John Wimbush was taken against his will from his home on Forest Street by a woman trying to extort money from him.

Warrants have been obtained for 59-year-old Valerie Vianna Condell, aka Valerie Swinson, of Ft. Washington, Maryland, for abduction with the intent to extort money. Condell is passing herself off as Wimbush’s daughter, but police say the two are not related. Police say she took Wimbush to his bank and tried to get him to withdraw money, but the teller knew Condell was not his daughter and contacted police.

Wimbush has dementia and suffers from various medical conditions. He also uses a cane to walk

They are believed to traveling in a black 2017 Nissan Pathfinder and may be headed to Maryland.
