(Danville, Va.) — Power service has been restored to all customers who lost service due to a substation fire. These customers are being served by another substation. The switchover began around midnight. By 1 a.m., all customers were switched over.

The fire was caused by a blown lightning arrestor that sparked and dropped onto a bed of leaves on the ground. The incident occurred at 9:33 p.m.

The outage affected about 2,400 customers along Piney Forest Road, North Main, Arnett Boulevard and 29 Business to Blairs.
