(Henry County, Va.) — The Henry County Sheriff’s Office is still working to identify the body found near a burning car in Fieldale Wednesday night.

And they believe the body may be that of a missing person from another jurisdiction. The vehicle registration led investigators to another area and the two agencies are now working together on the case.

The body was found near a burning vehicle on River Road near Fieldale Park on Wednesday. The remains were taken to the medical examiner’s office in Roanoke for an autopsy and to determine the cause and manner of death.

Investigators said the body may have been there for a several days and it is possible that the fire started accidentally.

Additional information will be released once the body has been identified and relatives are notified.
