(Danville, Va.) — A Reidsville man listed earlier as “a person of interest” in a Danville homicide has now been charged with murder.

30-year-old Diairion Marqui Davis is now charged with first-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Davis is charged in the May 14 shooting death of 31-year-old Arthur Obrien Anderson of Semora, North Carolina. Anderson was found lying in the middle of Rocklawn Avenue and died a short time later at SOVAH Health Danville.

Danville Police learned that Davis had fled to Greensboro and he was located sitting in a car outside an apartment building about 3:00 that afternoon. When officers approached, Davis urged them to shoot him. Investigators say he pulled a gun on police and fired shots at them. The officers returned fire, striking Davis.

He was not injured seriously and is currently in the Guilford County Jail, awaiting extradition to Danville. He faces additional charges in the Greensboro shooting incident.
