(Ringgold, Va.) — A mulch fire got out of hand Thursday, spreading to a Ringgold home.

Fire Chief Mike Neal says crews were called to 4085 Ringgold Church Road around 4:30 p.m. after receiving a report of a fire.

The mulch caught fire and spread to the rear of the frame house. The fire was contained to a bedroom but the family of five was displaced until repairs are made. The Red Cross is assisting.

Neal said a front room has fire damage and smoke damage was noted throughout the house.

Firefighters from Blairs and Kentuck also assisted at the scene.
