(Rockingham County, N.C.) —  Rockingham County Sheriff’s investigators have charged a Danbury, N.C. man with robbing a Stoneville bank earlier this week.

38-year-old Dempsey Richard Smith is charged with robbing the Fidelity Bank in Stoneville on Tuesday afternoon. Witnesses say he entered the bank about 4:30 that afternoon and handed the teller a note demanding cash. He fled to a waiting car with an undisclosed amount of money.    

Smith was placed in the Rockingham County Detention Facility under a $50,000 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in court on March 15.
