Danville man charged with obstructing death investigation

(Danville, Va.) — Danville Police responded to the Travel Inn on West Main St. Thursday afternoon for a report of a man found dead. Evidence and interviews with witnesses and family members support the conclusion that this incident is a suicide, although no firearm was found at the scene. Efforts to learn what happened to the gun prolonged the investigation, but police eventually learned that another tenant of the motel took the gun before investigators arrived. He was eventually located, interviewed again and turned the missing firearm over to police.

Wayne Lamont McCullor, 40, is charged with possession of a firearm after being convicted of a felony and obstruction. McCullor is currently wanted. Anyone with information on McCullor’s whereabouts is asked to contact Danville Crime Stoppers.
