(Danville, Va.) – A memorial service will be held this weekend for a Danville Utilities employee — Samuel “Sam” Thompson — who died after being electrocuted while working on a power line.

The service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. on Averett University’s North Campus on Mount Cross Road.

Thompson had worked as a lineman for more than 20 years at the department.

Thompson was from Napoleonville, Louisiana, but lived in Danville. Funeral services were held in his hometown in Louisiana on July 15.
