The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has issued a Heat Advisory for most of the region. The advisory is in effect from 11 am to 8 pm for Danville and South Boston, as well as Pittsylvania and Halifax counties.

Heat index values up to 107 are expected and may cause heat illnesses. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
