God’s Storehouse has announced its 4th Annual First Responders Bats and Badges Softball Tournament, a two-part event that honors local heroes and raises funds to fight hunger in Danville and Pittsylvania County.
The tournament will be held Saturday, September 5, starting at 10:00 AM at the Danville Distributing and Goodyear Softball Fields at Dan Daniel Park. Teams made up of firefighters, police officers, sheriff’s deputies, volunteer firefighters, and other first responders will compete for a spot in the championship game.
The championship game will take place on Friday, September 11, at 5:30 pm at the American Legion Field (Otterbots Stadium). Gates open at 5:00 pm, kicking things off with a Home Run Derby at 5:30 pm before the championship matchup.
Tickets:
• $10 per person (Saturday, Sept. 5th)
• $10 per person for the championship game (Sept. 11)
• Discounts available for first responders, seniors, and children.
Tickets for the tournament being held on Saturday, September 5 can be purchased at the gates. Tickets for the Championship Game on 9/11 can be purchased at God’s Storehouse or at the gate on game day.
Fans can also enjoy concessions, souvenir t-shirts, raffles, and a 50/50 raffle throughout the events.
“We are super excited about the 4th Annual Bats and Badges and looking forward to two fun opportunities to honor our first responders,” said Karen Harris, Executive Director of God’s Storehouse. “This is an important event for our first responders, and they really look forward to playing and competing. We are hoping for a bigger event this year thanks to the support of our community and sponsors.”
Funds raised will directly support God’s Storehouse food distribution programs. On average, 2,100 families each month (approximately 187 families each service day) receive food assistance. Thus far in 2026, the pantry has already distributed more than 19,800 boxes of food, totaling over 1 million pounds.
“The need in our community is greater than ever,” said Harris. “We couldn’t do what we do without the generous support of donors. Every ticket purchased, every shirt bought, and every raffle entered helps put food on the table for families in need.”
