MARTINSVILLE, Va. – Bond has been denied for one of two men charged in last month’s deadly shooting at a Martinsville restaurant. Jamal Jenkins, 24 of Collinsville, faces first-degree murder and firearms charges in a Feb. 5 shooting at the El Norteno restaurant that left two people dead. He made a court appearance Monday and was denied bond.

20-year-old Rosario Eggleston of Martinsville is charged with malicious wounding in the incident.

The shootings followed an argument in the bar area of the restaurant and claimed the lives of 33-year-old Shavon Lamont Reid and 23-year-old Keilo Anton Martin, both of Martinsville.

Security cameras caught the shootings on film and show Reid and another man arguing before shots are fired. Reid reportedly shot Martin in the chest. Jenkins was standing nearby and is said to have fired two shots at Martin, who also died of his wounds.

Virginia State Police are handling the investigation because a Martinsville police officer was involved.
