DANVILLE, Va. – Plans for a Caesar’s casino in Danville moved a step forward this week as the results of the November 3rd referendum were formally certified.

Danville voters overwhelmingly approved the casino-resort and the sale of the Schoolfield plot on which the casino will be built is expected to come by the end of the year. Construction is slated to begin during the second half of 2021, with completion expected in about two years.

A group is already working to decide how city leaders will spend the $15 million that Caesar’s has promised to pay upfront. About $5.9 million has been earmarked for a new police headquarters off Memorial Drive.
