SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Damage was reported throughout Suffolk Tuesday after Tropical Storm Isaias and a related tornado ripped through the area.

At least one tornado touched down Tuesday morning, including one in the 100 block of Saratoga Street in Downtown Suffolk just before 3:45 a.m. causing damage to multiple businesses and Fire Station 1 on Market Street.

The back of the Knight Financial building at Saratoga and Washington streets had its wall completely blown away and neighboring Brandon Furniture House was also heavily damaged. The emergency shelter at King’s Fork High at 351 Kings Fork Road opened after the storm and remained open until 1 p.m. Tuesday.

No fatalities due to Isaias had been reported in Virginia as of Tuesday afternoon.
