SOUTH BOSTON, Va. – A teenager has been jailed following a weekend shooting incident in South Boston. An officer on patrol heard gunshots in the Centerville area about 10 p.m. Friday. A caller then reported shots fired at the football stadium at the middle school. Police responded and found a car that had been hit by gunfire.

According to investigators, a group had gathered at the stadium when a fight broke out. After the fight, police say a 17-year-old grabbed a gun and started shooting. Cartridge cases were found in the parking lot, but no one was injured.

The teen was arrested and faces multiple changes, including attempted malicious wounding, reckless handling of a firearm, discharging a weapon on school property and underage possession of a firearm. He was taken to the W.W. Moore detention facility in Danville until his first court appearance.
