(Danville, Va.) — A Danville bus driver was assaulted Tuesday and a female student has been charged in the attack.

The Danville Public School system posted a statement on Twitter saying that the unidentified school bus driver was assaulted Tuesday morning and that an investigation is underway.

According to the statement, a juvenile riding a public school bus assaulted the driver just before 8 a.m. Tuesday on the bus’ normal route.

Danville Police have charged the female student with assault. Her name is not being released because of her age.

The incident is being investigated by the Danville Police Department with the support of Danville Public Schools.

The bus driver was not injured seriously.
