(Yanceyville, N.C.) – A Danville businessman could face the death penalty in the death of a North Carolina woman.

Donald Layne, the former owner of the Mega Bounce indoor playground in Danville, is charged with capital murder in the death of Juanita Hankins at her home in Caswell County in September 2018. He is also charged with sexually assaulting and trying to kill her daughter, Stephanie Snead. Snead was a former employee at Mega Bounce.

On Tuesday, Assistant District Attorney Stephanie Reese filed a motion during a court hearing in Caswell County seeking capital murder charges.

Warrants state that Layne forced his way into the home to assault Snead.

He is also charged in Danville with holding an employee hostage and sexually assaulting her.

No trial date has been set for his trial in North Carolina. In Danville, an April 23 trial date has been scheduled.
