(Franklin County, Va.) – The body of a missing Pittsylvania County man has been found in Franklin County.

The Franklin County sheriff’s department discovered human remains near Eric Guthrie’s truck. The abandoned pickup was discovered on land Guthrie leases near Snow Creek Road in Franklin County.

Guthrie was reported missing by Pittsylvania County Authorities on Thursday. That night, the landowner found his truck and called sheriff’s deputies. While an initial search turned up nothing, deputies returned the following morning and found the 56-year-old man’s body about a half-mile from his truck.

While there was no evidence of foul play, the remains have been sent to the medical examiner’s office in Roanoke.
