(Halifax County, Va.) – A Halifax man has been arrested and charged with last week’s robbery of the American National Bank in South Boston.

South Boston Police on Saturday arrested 29-year-old Jeremy Lamar Anderson at his home on Love Shop Road in Halifax. Anderson was taken into custody Saturday without incident.

He is charged with robbery and use of firearm in commission of a felony. While no weapon was displayed, Anderson threatened to shoot the teller during the hold-up. Anderson is being held at Blue Ridge Regional Jail Authority in Halifax under no bond.

Police say Anderson entered the Centerville bank at 9:50 a.m. on August 27, approached a teller and handed her a note demanding money and threatening to shoot employees unless she handed over the cash. He was given an undisclosed amount of money and fled on foot.

Investigators say Anderson entered a nearby WalMart on Old Halifax Road just prior to the robbery and walked around for about 10 minutes. Moments later, they say he entered American National and robbed the bank.
