(Hillsville, Va.) — Virginia State Police say a driver died in a single-vehicle crash on the Route 58 bypass early Labor Day morning.

33-year-old Ryan Rakes of Fancy Gap was headed east on the Route 58 bypass around 1:50 Monday morning when he took the exit to Route 52 and ran off the left side of the road.

The vehicle overturned, continued off the right side of the road, and struck a guardrail.

Rakes died at the scene.

Police said he was wearing his seat belt.
