(Pittsylvania County, Va.) – Virginia State Police believe alcohol was a factor in a single-vehicle accident that left a Pittsville man dead.

The wreck happened around 12:14 Friday morning on Route 773 at Wade Road, one-half of a mile south of Route 794 at Homestead Road in Pittsylvania County.

A pickup truck was northbound when the vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway, struck a tree and overturned. The driver was ejected from the pickup.

59-year-old Lyle Wayne Adkins, of Pittsville, was taken to Roanoke Memorial Hospital, where he later died. State police say Adkins was not wearing his seat belt.
