(Danville, Va.) Former mayor and Danville attorney Ronald Williams has died after a period of declining health.

Williams died Saturday at the age of 81.

He was the senior partner and founder of the Williams, Morrison, Light, & Moreau law firm. Williams was also a former Danville City Council member and Danville mayor. He also served as a member of the Pittsylvania County School Board.

Williams was a 1962 graduate of the T. C. Williams School of Law at the University of Richmond. He practiced law in Danville and Pittsylvania County for over 50 years. He was a member of the Virginia State Bar, the Danville Bar Association where he served as past president, and the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association.

Born on August 27, 1936 he was a son of the late E. H. Williams, Jr. and Lillian Shuping Williams.

He is survived by his wife and five children.
