(Halifax County, Va.) — Fire destroyed a Turbeville home Wednesday afternoon but the family of eight was away at the time.

The modular home and its contents went up in flames shortly after noon and investigators say Ray and Patty Chapell and their six children lost their modular home and everything inside.

The fire was so intense that investigators have been unable to determine the point of origin or determine the cause.

20 firefighters from five volunteer departments fought the blaze for about two hours.
