Martinsville, VA – College bound Students and new professionals may soon be able to take their final entrance exams closer to home.  Leanna Blevins, Executive Director of the New College Institute in Martinsville, says they’re working to add a regional testing center to their facilities.  Blevins says NCI has already been certified as a College Level Examination Program testing center.  That’s a national program, also called CLEP, which enables students to take standardized tests in three dozen areas to see if their current knowledge in these areas is enough to earn them college credits without having to take classes.  Those tests will begin in November.  But Blevins says they’re also working toward certification that would allow them to give SAT tests for college bound students, Praxis tests for new teachers, and ParaPro assessments for teachers’ aides.
