Narrative Statement
In the past two years there has been one full-time position available and filled. Two full-time positions now available effective May 27, 2012. The turnover rate is very low at Piedmont Broadcasting Corporation because the seniority is greater than most other radio stations. The average employment tenure for the five most senior employees is now 35.6. Our full-time employee average is 19.94, and all employees (full and part-time) have an average tenure of 14.75 years. Although our outreach efforts are many and consistent, being located in a non-metro market limits our number of qualified applicants.
Our outreach program for the past year included the following:
March 23, 2011- We participated in a Career & Networking Fair at DCC (Danville Community Center). A total of 13 businesses participated in this event.
April 13, 2011 – We participated in a College Transfer/Job Fair at Piedmont Community College, Caswell County Campus in Yanceyville, N.C. There were 20 businesses represented at this event.
April 21, 2011 – We participated in a Spring Career Fair at National College, Martinsville VA. A total of 25 businesses participated in this event.
October 6, 2011 – We participated in a Community-Wide Job Fair at the Institute for Advanced Learning & Research in Danville. There were 24 businesses represented at this event.
November 15, 2011 – We participated in a Career & Networking Fair at Averett University in Danville. A total of 14 businesses were represented at this event.
We worked with the Virginia Association of Broadcasters (VAB) to secure an intern for the summer of 2011. A number of persons applied which resulted in one of the applicants meeting the criteria to fill the summer intern position from May 9, 2011 to July 1, 2011.
