12th Annual Sinners and Saints Car and Motorcycle Ride


Soldiers of the Cross and Danville Ready-Mix present: The 12th Annual Sinners and Saints Car and Motorcycle Ride Saturday, September 20th.  Registration starts at 9am at Nor-Dan Shopping Center.  The ride travels to Smith Mt. Lake Dam through northern Pittsylvania County.  There will be live music and a free lunch at the Dam.  Donations to the SOTC for $5 will get a chance to win a custom handmade quilt made by Susan Stevens or the 15" bowie knife made by Lee Holley of VA Hillbilly Knives.

Eden Riverfest


Enjoy the 11th Annual Eden RiverFest Friday, September 19th 5pm - 10pm and September 20th 10am - 10pm. All the fun will take place on Washington Street!  There will be two stages of music, kid's activities, special exhibits, Civil War hospital display, artisans and food vendors, MillerCoors tasting area and beer garden. Friday night headliner is Motown sounds of Envision and Saturday headliner is Zack Brown tribute band 20 Ride. Car Show


Anderson Volunteer Fire Department is hosting their 8th Annual Car Show Saturday, September 20th from 8am - 3pm at the Casweel County Brightleaf Hoedown.  The car show will benefit the Anderson Fire Department by purchasing supplies and equipment needed by the department to assist southern Caswell County.  For more information, contact Pam Ward at pward@tpp-tmp.com.

Turbeville VFD Fall Bash


Turbeville Volunteer Fire Department Fall Bash will be Saturday, September 20th from 8pm - Midnight at the World of Sports.  This event will feature Matt Boswell and the Hillbilly Blues Band.  Proceeds from this event will be used to assist the department with extensive costs for Fire & EMS equipment, truck payments and maintenance of the building.

They are currently looking for sponsors for this event to help cover the cost of up-front expenses such as the location site, entertainment, and advertising.  Participating sponsors will be featured in advertisements and announced repeatedly at the event.  They are also offering a platinum sponsorship status to those who donate $500.00 or more.  In addition to the advertisements and announcements throughout the event, becoming a platinum sponsor will entitle you to display your signage with your business name along with two tickets and a reserved table for eight.

Please make your check out to Turbeville Volunteer Fire Department (memo: Fall Bash) and return it to in the enclosed envelope by August 15, 2014.  The Turbeville Volunteer Fire Department is a 501C3 tax exempt organization under the rules of the IRS so your donation is deductible. Tailgates 'n Tractors Concert Event


The Olde Dominion Agricultural Foundation is kicking off a concert series entitled Tailgates ‘n Tractors on Friday, September 26th - featuring Matt Boswell and the Hillbilly Blues Band.
The Foundation was formed in 2008 with the mission to promote and support local agriculture while offering a community based facility to educate and entertain.  All funds raised from this event will be directed toward ensuring this first class facility will continue to be offered at no charge to youth agricultural groups such as 4H and FFA from our region. 

The concert will take place in the ODAC arena.  Bring a lawn chair for floor seating in front of the band or take general admission seating in the bleachers.  Concessions by Jeff Belton and Pittsylvania County 4H will be for sale throughout the event.  Cash bar is also available for those 21 and up. Doors will open at 6pm with the concert starting at 7pm and ending at 11pm.  Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door.

Pinto Bean Dinner


The American Legion Dan River Post 1097 (located at 17 Fairfield Ave) is hosting a pinto bean dinner Friday, September 16th at 5:30pm.  Cost is $5 per plate, eat in or take out. The dinner includes pinto beans, cornbread, fried potatoes, slaw, dessert, and tea/coffee. The funds from this event support the American Legion Programs, Post, Veterans and the community. Gretna Annual Talent Show Auditions


Gretna Little Theatre will hold the third Annual Talent Show Saturday, September 27th, 7:30pm in the Gretna Center for the Arts.  Audition for the show is scheduled for Saturday, September 20th, at 2pm in the center at 101 Main Street.  All talent is encourage to attend the audition for the show the following week.  There are no rehearsals.  Singers, dancers, musicians, bands, actors and comic are invited to compete for cash prizes.  Audition with personal accompanist, piano on site, or with CDs, preferably music only.  Be prepared to leave CD with the director (to be returned later).  The Talent Show will be presented in the Gretna Center for the Arts as a benefit for the Roof Repair fund.  Seating is limited and reservations are recommended.  For more information, contact Hal Shoemaker at 434.219.9914.

The breakfast includes pancakes, sausage, orange juice, &coffee. The funds from this event support the Sons of the American Legion Programs, Post, Veterans and the community. Chicken Dinner


The American Legion Dan River Post 1097 (located at 17 Fairfield Ave) is hosting a chicken dinner Friday, October 10th at 5:30pm.  Cost per plate is $7, eat in or take out. VFW Monthly Steak Dinner


VFW Post 647 Ladies Auxilary hosts a steak dinner every first Friday of the month from 5:30pm - 7:30pm.  Dinner includes steak, baked potato, salad, bread, drink and dessert for $12.  This is available for dine-in or take-out.  VFW Post 647 is on Highway 58 W across from Big Sky rents in Danville.  Funds from these dinners stay local and are used to help the community.

Pet Adoption Fair

Let's Dance!
