Decorating the Trees for a Cause


Decorating the Trees for a Cause; a non-profit program that raises money for local charities and causes, will take place this year at the Institute for Advanced Learning and Research. Participants decorate a tree which represents a local cause or charity. The public views the trees and votes for their favorite by making a monetary donation to that tree’s cause or charity. At the end of the program, all participants will receive 100% of their collected donations (including checks) PLUS certified charitable organizations will be eligible for three bonus awards. Voting and Viewing takes place December 1 – 19; Monday – Friday 8 am – 5 pm. Open House: Tuesday, December 9; 4:30- 6:30 pm.
 
 

The Christmas Present


The Christmas Present: through tragedy and loss, a teenage Scrooge learns the true meaning of Christmas.  You're invited to view this inspiration production Saturday, December 20th at 7pm at the Danville City Auditiorium.  Doors open at 6:30pm.  Tickets are $10 for 13 and up, 12 and under get in for $5.  Group rates available for 20 or more.  Tickets available at Dee's Barbershop, O'Taste And See, Bro Petes' and Stylz Unlimited.

The Journey of Promise


Make plans to witness the greatest event mankind as ever known: The Journey of Promise - a dramatic Christmas presentation, at White Oak Worship Center.  Enjoy this display of the "reason for the season" Saturday and Sunday, December 13th and 14th and Saturday and Sunday, December 20th and 21st. Christmas Musical


The Chancel Choir of Woodlawn Baptist Church, 2500 Westover Drive, will present the Christmas musical, "Peace on Earth"; Sunday, December 21st, at 6pm.  All are invited to join in on this special worship service.

SPCA Rescue Angel Tree


SPCA needs the community’s help to save animal lives!  Rescue Angel Trees are set up at several locations for donations.  Vet locations (Cherrystone, Chatham Animal Clinic, AMC, Mt. Spring to Green Horitcultural Symposium


Danville Mast Gardener Association is hosting "Spring to Green Horticultural Symposium" Saturday, January 31st from 8:30am - 4pm at The Institute (150 Slayton Avenue, Danville, Va).  Enjoy a day full of seminars about garden soil, landscaping, secrets to successful gardening, heirloom vegetables, perennials and vertical edibles for gardens.  In case of inclement weater, the event will be rescheduled for February 7th, 2015.  Registration to attend this event is required - Early Bird Special rate - $40 postmarked by November 15th; after November 15th, cost is $45.  Registration must be postmarked by January 19th.  Make checks payable to Danville Master Gardeners or "DMG" and mail checks to:

Running 4 A Reason


The 2nd Annual Running 4 a Reason 5K/10K and Kids Fun Run will be hosted by Westover Christian Academy Class of 2017.  This year, 30% of all proceeds will benefit the Danville Chapter of the March of Dimes.  Registration is open at www.wcarunning4areason.com through eventbrite.  Cost is $10 for children 2 - 12 and $30 for ages 13 and up. 

VFW Monthly Steak Dinner


VFW Post 647 Ladies Auxilary hosts a steak dinner every first Friday of the month from 5:30pm - 7:30pm.  Dinner includes steak, baked potato, salad, bread, drink and dessert for $13.  This is available for dine-in or take-out.  VFW Post 647 is on Highway 58 W across from Big Sky rents in Danville.  Funds from these dinners stay local and are used to help the community.

Pet Adoption Fair

Let's Dance!



Mondays are dancing nights at Ballou Recreation Center!  Learn new dances, make new friends, and get some exercise in the process.  Class meets every Monday night, 7 till 8:30pm.  Cost is $4 per class. To register or for more info, call 799.5216.
