Doggie Easter Egg Hunt


AnimalKind's is hosting their 1st Annual Doggie Easter Egg Hunt Saturday, April 4th, 11am, co-hosted by Caswell Pet Lifeline.  This is a free event where participants will have the opportunity to collect dog treats, win prizes and receive a doggie bag filled with pet items and discount coupons.  Baskets will be provided.  (Dogs must be non-aggressive, current on all shots and be on a leash at all times.)  Pre-registration is appreciated: www.animalkind.org or by phone at 919.870.1660 ext 102.

Pancake Breakfast


The Sons of the American Legion Dan River Squadron 1097 are hosting an All-You-Can-Eat Pancake Breakfast Saturday, April 4th from 7:30am - 10am at the American Legion Dan River Post 1097 (located at 17 FairfieldAvenue).  Cost is $5 per plate - eat-in or take-out.  The breakfast includes pancakes, sausage, orange juice and coffee.  The funds from this event support the Sons of the American Legion programs, post, veterans and the community.  For more information, call 434.793.7531.

Fight for Emily


Emily Martin, a local senior at Dan River High School, has been diagnosed with Leukemia. Her friends and family are having a benefit bake sale Saturday, April 4th from 3pm - 6pm to help raise money for medical and travel cost to and from Roanoke where Emily is currently being treated.  Please help in the "Fight For Emily." 6th Annual Bridge to Bridge 5K/10K


The 6th Annual Bridge to Bridge 5K/10K Walk/Run will take place on Saturday, April 11th at the Danville’s Scenic River Walk Trail and River City District. Proceeds will be used to support the efforts of the Danville Cancer Association (DCA). DCA is a local, United Way organization that provides financial patient aid to cancer patients in the Danville/Pittsylvania area, as well as educational information and a monthly support group. Entry fee is $25 ($30 on race day). There will also be a one-mile “Fun Run” for children 10 and under. The registration fee for the Fun Run is $12 ($17 on race day). Clinical Trials 101


What are clinical trials?  What are the phases of a clinical trial?  How are clinical trials improving peoples’ lives?  Speaker, Mary Beth Tombes, Assistant Director, Early Phase Clinical Research Nursing, VCU Massey Cancer Center, will address these questions and more in Clinical Trials 101.  Join this Free program, on April 14, from 11:30am - 1pm at Ballou Recreation Center, lower level.  It is part of the popular Keeping Well Series for those concerned with cancer prevention and survivorship, open and beneficial to the entire community.  Her presentation will include personal stories about how clinical trials, right here in Virginia, are making a difference in peoples' lives. This fascinating program is brought to the Dan River Region by the Cancer Research and Resource Center of Southern Virginia/Danville in partnership with Danville Parks & Recreation.  Take your lunch and a friend!  Drinks and dessert are provided.  Boxed lunches can be ordered in advance for $6.50.  Call the Resource Center to make a reservation, 434.421.3060.
 

Bouncing for the Library


Head out to the Caswell Bounce House and support Gunn Memorial Public Library Saturday, April 15th from 1pm - 8pm.  It's "Bouncing for the Library."  A percentage of the $8 entry fee will be used to fund children's programs, teen programs and adult programs at the library. There'll be bouncing and sliding and lots of fun for all! Relay for Life Yard and Bake Sale


PATHS, Relay for Life team will be holding a Yard and Bake Sale on Saturday, April 18 from 7am-12pm (rain or shine) at their Danville location (705 Main St).  All proceeds will benefit the PATHS team, "Making PATHS for a Cure" and The American Cancer Society.  Tables will be available to rent for $10 each. Caswell Friends of the Library invites you to participate in their "Let's Talk About It" book discussions at Gunn Memorial Public Library (161 Main Street East, Yanceyville, NC).  Books are available at the library for check out.  The events will be March 14th, March 28th, April 11th, April 25th and May 9th from 10:30am - 12pm.

Diabetes Self Management Workshop

VFW Monthly Steak Dinner


VFW Post 647 Ladies Auxilary hosts a steak dinner every first Friday of the month from 5:30pm - 7:30pm.  Dinner includes steak, baked potato, salad, bread, drink and dessert for $13.  This is available for dine-in or take-out.  VFW Post 647 is on Highway 58 W across from Big Sky rents in Danville.  Funds from these dinners stay local and are used to help the community.

Pet Adoption Fair

Zumba with Alice


The Zumba program fuses hypnotic Latin rhythms and easy-to-follow moves to create a one-of-a-kind interval training fitness pogram.  The fun routines combine to tone and sculpt your body while burning fat.  Add some Latin flavor and international zest into the mix and you have a smokin' Zumba class! Prime Time Fitness (PTF)

Let's Dance!
