All You Can Eat Pancake Breakfast


The Sons of the American Legion Dan River Post 1097 will hold an All You Can Eat Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, November 1st from 7:30am - 10am.  Cost is $5 per plate and includes pancakes, sausage, orange juice and coffee.  The funds from this event go to support the post programs, veterans and the community.  For more information, call 434.793.7531.

GWHS Spirit Night at Buffalo Wild Wings


GWHS Baseball Booster Club is having a "Spirit Night" at Buffalo Wild Wings Wednesday, November 5th from 5pm - 9pm.  Buffalo Wild Wings will donate 10% of profits during that time to support the baseball team.

Annual Bazaar


The Pilot Club of Danville will hold their Annual Bazaar Saturday, November 8th from 8am - 12pm at Sacred Heart School.  There will be fabulous baked goods, used treasures, paperbacks and lots of handmade crafts at super-reasonable prices. Proceeds go to fund all various projects with local organizations and agencies.

Get your Christmas shopping done early at the Chatham Middle School Holiday Bazaar Saturday, November 8th from 8am - 2pm.  This event will feature many local vendors with crafts and homemade food items.  All proceeds will help raise money for school supplies for teachers and students.  For more information, call 540.327.3299.

Steelhorse Strangers MC Toy Run


The Steelhorse Strangers MC Inc are a 501 (c) (3) non profit organization hosting a toy run Sunday, November 9th at 12pm at Homestead Steakhouse in Timberlake, North Carolina.  All proceeds from the event will go toward "Santa's Helpers" of Person County.  Cost to participate is $10 donation or a $10 new, unwrapped toy.  The ride will end at Homestead Steak House and will include a meal from that restaurant.  For more information contact Mike Rogers at 336.264.1363.

Poppies to Honor Veterans


The American Legion Auxiliary Dan River Unit 1097 will be distributing poppies at Sam's Club on November 8th, 10th and 11th from 8am - 5pm.  Each poppy is handmade by veterans in the Veteran Hospital in Virginia.  All  donations received will go to support veterans in our community and at the Salem Veteran Hospital.

Breakfast with Santa


Santa and Mrs. Claus are arriving from the North Pole a little early this year just to have breakfast with our children and their families! God’s Storehouse, with the support of Pepsi Beverage Company in Danville and KickBack Jack’s, is hosting a pancake breakfast with Santa from 8 am until 10 am on Saturday, November 15, at KickBack Jack’s. Tickets are $10 per person and must be purchased in advance. Plan a great morning with Santa and Mrs. Claus while you are supporting the work of God’s Storehouse. Tickets are available at God’s Storehouse on Memorial Drive, Karen’s Hallmark in the Danville Mall, Woodforest National Bank located in Walmart, and Betsy’s Place at 3000 Riverside Drive. All proceeds benefit God’s Storehouse and the thousands of families served through this food pantry each year. Holiday Craft Fair

Spring to Green Horitcultural Symposium


Danville Mast Gardener Association is hosting "Spring to Green Horticultural Symposium" Saturday, January 31st from 8:30am - 4pm at The Institute (150 Slayton Avenue, Danville, Va).  Enjoy a day full of seminars about garden soil, landscaping, secrets to successful gardening, heirloom vegetables, perennials and vertical edibles for gardens.  In case of inclement weater, the event will be rescheduled for February 7th, 2015.  Registration to attend this event is required - Early Bird Special rate - $40 postmarked by November 15th; after November 15th, cost is $45.  Registration must be postmarked by January 19th.  Make checks payable to Danville Master Gardeners or "DMG" and mail checks to:

VFW Monthly Steak Dinner


VFW Post 647 Ladies Auxilary hosts a steak dinner every first Friday of the month from 5:30pm - 7:30pm.  Dinner includes steak, baked potato, salad, bread, drink and dessert for $12.  This is available for dine-in or take-out.  VFW Post 647 is on Highway 58 W across from Big Sky rents in Danville.  Funds from these dinners stay local and are used to help the community.

Let's Dance!



Mondays are dancing nights at Ballou Recreation Center!  Learn new dances, make new friends, and get some exercise in the process.  Class meets every Monday night, 7 till 8:30pm.  Cost is $4 per class. To register or for more info, call 799.5216.

First Annual Pittsylvania County Marching Band Home Show


The First Annual Pittsylvania County Marching Band Home Show will be Saturday, November 8th at Gretna High School. Bands from from Chatham, Dan River, Tunstall and Gretna will be performing. Chatham will be performing the National Anthem, Dan River’s show is All For One and One For All, Tunstall will be performing The Tenth World and Gretna will be playing songs from Shrek, featuring Hallelujah. Gates open at 11am, event begins at 11am to 4pm. Admission is $5.00. There will be concessions, basket raffles and 50/50 tickets. Awards will be given out to all bands. Please come out and vote for your favorite band director and support all the kids who have worked so very hard this season. All proceeds will go towards the Gretna Hawk Marching Band uniform drive.
