God's Pit Crew Wristbands


Piedmont Printing & Graphics/The Logo Shoppe is donating silicone wristbands to God's Pit Crew for a fund raiser that we believe will raise $15,000 - $20,000. These red & yellow bands (commemorating GPC's colors) are available to anyone who wants to show support by donating a MINIMUM of $10 & wearing the wristband at least through the summer. 
 

Vacation Bible School


Your child is invited to a week of fun with Vacation Bible School: Colossal Coaster World at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church.  VBS will be the week of June 9th, beginning at 6:15pm each night and wrapping up at about 9pm. Meals provided every night. Fundraiser for God's Store House Featuring David Wilson of the New York Giants


Friday, June 21st, 6pm - 9pm, you're invited to join the fundraising efforts for God's Store House at Blackwell Chrysler Jeep Dodge Kia (4874 Riverside Drive).  Please bring canned goods or make a donation for God's Store House while you're there.  David Wilson, former VA Tech Hokie and current Starting Running Back for the New York Giants, will be on site for an autograph session 6pm - 8pm.  Come hungry - BBQ provided by Armstead Hodges of Providence Fire Department (while supplies last).  Also, there will be NFL and VT memorabilia up for auction - proceeds going to God's Store House and live entertainment by Terry Agnor's Band, "Woody and the Mis-Fit Toys" from 7pm - 9pm.

Cornhole Tournament


Kentuck Volunteer Fire Department is hosting a Cornhole Tournament Saturday, June 22nd. Registration is at 5pm and the tournament will kick off at 5:30pm and will continue until there is a winning team! This is happening rain or shine.  $100 up for grabs for the winning team and a non-cash prize for the runner up team.  Food and beverages available on site.  For more information, contact via email at kentuckkvfd24@comcast.net.

CROP Hunger Walk KickOff Meeting


The Danville Area CROP Hunger Walk will hold a kickoff meeting and awards ceremony Tuesday, May 28th at 6pm at God's Storehouse.  At the meeting, they will recognize some of the outstanding participants from last year's walk, as well as provide information about the th annual CROP Walk to be held on October 6th.  This walk raises money in support of God's Storehouse and other hunger relief programs.  This is open to anyone interested in learning more about this walk.  For more information, check out www.danvillecropwalk.org or contact them at recruitment@danvillecropwalk.org.

Benefit Car Wash


Dan River Mustang Baseball team is having a car wash at Advance Auto on 58 East Saturday, June 29th.  Car wash will begin at 8:30am and will continue until the last car is served.  This is a fundraising car wash for a needy family.

Scrap-a-ganza

Andrew Haley Memorial Junior Golf Tournament


Andrew Haley Memorial Smith Mountain Lake Lions Junior Gold Tournament is played over two days (July 22nd and 23rd) on two different golf courses: The Waterfront in Franklin County and Mariners Landing in Bedford County.  All entrants are entitled to one practice round at each golf course the week before the tournament.  Eligible golfers: all girls and boys between the ages of 11 and 19 who have established handicaps by July 22nd, 2013.  Registration fee is $65 before June 22nd and $70 after June 22nd - it includes all fees for participants and lunch each day.  Register online at www.haleylionsjrgolf.com.  For more details, contact Ron Jamison at 540.721.2361.

Dance Classes



Mondays are Boogie Mondays!  Learn new dances, make new friends, and get some exercise in the process.  Class meets every Monday night, 7 till 8:30pm.  Cost is $3 for city residents or get a dance card good for six visits for only $15.  To register or for more info, call 799.5216.
