Why Danville Regional Medical Blood Donor Center Needs Blood

A lot of times folks ask, "Why does the Danville Regional Blood Donor Center always say they are in desparate need of blood?"

Here's Why:

  • Blood has a shelf life of 42 days; however, the units of blood are used before they expire.
Platelets have a five day shelf life and are used before they ever expire.
  • Surgical procedures, cancer patients, car accidents are just a few situations family members, friends and the community find themselves in.
  • There is no replacement for human blood so without human blood donations, hospitals cannot meet the blood needs of the patients.  Remember, the person needing blood could be you or someone you love.

You live here, so please give here because your blood donation stays here and helps here.
