The Virginia Department of Tourism is teaming up with the Martinsville Speedway for the “Virginia is for Racing Lovers 300” in a three-year sponsorship. The Fall Classic, scheduled for October 3rd provides Late Model competitors the only chance, each season, to race on a track where NASCAR’s Sprint Cup cars also run. The winner will take home $25,000, the biggest payday of the year in NASCAR late model racing. Racing remains a huge draw for tourism in the area. The Martinsville Speedway alone generates $170 million annually and provides 2,800 jobs.
