Brunswick Stew


Sons of the Maerican Legion Dan River Squadron 1097 is having a Brunswick Stew Saturday, December 6th.  Stew will be available to purchase from 12pm - 3pm and will sell for $5 per quart. Walk to Defeat ALS

Pinto Bean Dinner


The American Legion Auxiliary Dan River Unit 1097 is hosting a Pinto Bean Dinner Friday, December 12th starting at 5:30pm.  Dinner is $5 per plate - eat in or take out.  Meals include pinto beans, cornbread, fried potatoes, slaw, dessert and tea/coffee.  The funds from this event go to support the post programs, veterans and the community.  For more information, call 434.793.7531.

Christmas BBQ


The Pelham Fire Dept is taking orders for Bar-B-Que Butts for December 13th. Butts will be whole or chopped up and will be $40 whole or $45 chopped...or by the pound for $8. 42nd Annual Holiday Tour


Have you ever wanted to peek inside Danville's historic mansions? On December 13th and 14th, Danville Historical Society will open the doors to homes, repurposed college buildings, museums and a church all decorated for the 42nd Annual Holiday Tour.  Refreshments and musical entertainment are included in the $20 ticket.  Tickets available at Ginger Bread House, Haymore Landscaping, Karen's Hallmark, Rippe's and Vintages.  Visit danvillehistory.org or call 434.709.4869 for more details.

Decorating the Trees for a Cause


Decorating the Trees for a Cause; a non-profit program that raises money for local charities and causes, will take place this year at the Institute for Advanced Learning and Research. Participants decorate a tree which represents a local cause or charity. The public views the trees and votes for their favorite by making a monetary donation to that tree’s cause or charity. At the end of the program, all participants will receive 100% of their collected donations (including checks) PLUS certified charitable organizations will be eligible for three bonus awards. Voting and Viewing takes place December 1 – 19; Monday – Friday 8 am – 5 pm. Open House: Tuesday, December 9; 4:30- 6:30 pm.
 
 

Spring to Green Horitcultural Symposium


Danville Mast Gardener Association is hosting "Spring to Green Horticultural Symposium" Saturday, January 31st from 8:30am - 4pm at The Institute (150 Slayton Avenue, Danville, Va).  Enjoy a day full of seminars about garden soil, landscaping, secrets to successful gardening, heirloom vegetables, perennials and vertical edibles for gardens.  In case of inclement weater, the event will be rescheduled for February 7th, 2015.  Registration to attend this event is required - Early Bird Special rate - $40 postmarked by November 15th; after November 15th, cost is $45.  Registration must be postmarked by January 19th.  Make checks payable to Danville Master Gardeners or "DMG" and mail checks to:

VFW Monthly Steak Dinner


VFW Post 647 Ladies Auxilary hosts a steak dinner every first Friday of the month from 5:30pm - 7:30pm.  Dinner includes steak, baked potato, salad, bread, drink and dessert for $13.  This is available for dine-in or take-out.  VFW Post 647 is on Highway 58 W across from Big Sky rents in Danville.  Funds from these dinners stay local and are used to help the community.

Let's Dance!



Mondays are dancing nights at Ballou Recreation Center!  Learn new dances, make new friends, and get some exercise in the process.  Class meets every Monday night, 7 till 8:30pm.  Cost is $4 per class. To register or for more info, call 799.5216.
