HENRY COUNTY, Va. – Four people were injured in a nine-car, chain reaction wreck in Henry County Tuesday.

Virginia State police say a box truck was headed north on Route 220 when the driver merged into the right turn lane. Several vehicles were stopped in traffic to turn right onto Drewry Mason School Road when the truck sideswiped five cars. The box truck then pushed a sixth car off the right side of the road and into an embankment. The box truck then struck the back of another car in the turn late. That sent the vehicle slamming into two other cars that were stopped in the turn lane.

Four drivers were taken to Sovah Health Martinsville, where they were treated for minor injuries.

The driver of the box truck, 21-year-old William Leonard of Winston Salem, North Carolina, was not injured. He faces charges of reckless driving and failing to maintain control of the vehicle.
