DANVILLE, Va. – Danville has cleared the way for a Rosie’s Gaming Emporium.
According to unofficial numbers from the Virginia Department of Elections, 51.87% (5,083 voters) favor pari-mutuel wagering and 48.1% – or 4,717 voters – cast ballots against it.
Colonial Downs Group waged an aggressive campaign to ensure passage. The group will locate a Rosie’s Gaming Emporium with Historical Horse Racing machines here.
According to a spokesperson for Rosie’s parent company, the business would create about 200 jobs and likely bring in around $50,000 a month in tax revenue for the city. The location is still unclear.
