(Pittsylvania County, Va.) — No charges will be filed against the driver of a truck who suffered a medical emergency and crashed into several parked cars at Kentuck Elementary School Thursday.

Virginia State Police responded about 11 a.m. to the wreck on Rt. 729. A Chevy Silverado ran off the right side of the road and hit five cars in the parking lot of the elementary school. No one was inside the cars at the time of the crash.

The 57-year-old driver was taken to the hospital and treated for undisclosed injuries. Investigators believe he had a medical emergency that then caused him to lose control of the truck. He was taken to Danville SOVAH Hospital with a life-threatening condition.

State police say he was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash.
