(South Boston, Va.) – For the third time is as many months, merchants in Riverdale are dealing with flooded storefronts.

Additional rainfall brought flooding to the low-lying business district, completely closing flood prone Rt. 501 by Wednesday afternoon.

A flood warning remains in effect for the entire region. The National Weather Service expects the Dan River to crest above flood stage at 26.4 feet in South Boston and to remain at moderate-to-minor flood levels through Sunday.

Most of the flooding is expected downstream of Danville at Paces and South Boston, although the NWS also has Danville under a flood warning through Friday morning as a result of heavy rains received Thursday.
