(Danville, Va.) — Two more people were killed by flash flooding in Danville.

53-year-old William Lynn Tanksley, 53, of Danville was swept away from his vehicle by flash flooding near the 100 block of Colonial Court about 5 p.m. Thursday.

His body will be transported to Roanoke for autopsy.

A second fatality occurred on Goodyear Boulevard at about 10:20 that night. Police said the victim was stranded inside of a vehicle that was overrun floodwaters. The second fatality victim from the storm has been identified as 60-year-old Jennifer Bjarnesen Mitchell of Danville, according to Danville Police. Her body will be transported to Roanoke for autopsy.

This brings the death toll to three from the storm in the region.

James E. King Jr., 45, of Dry Fork, was swept away from his vehicle after being caught in a flash flood in the 600 block of Sandy Creek Road at about 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Corinne Geller, public relations director for the Virginia State Police, reported.

His body was found later Thursday night.
