(Danville, Va.) — On the heels of Florence,God’s Pit Crew in Danville is preparing to respond to the Gulf Coast after Hurricane Michael comes ashore later this week.

God’s Pit Crew CEO Randy Johnson says they are in need of 150 volunteers this Thursday night from 6 to 8:30 to man an assembly line to fill blessing buckets at their warehouse on North Main Street in Danville. Blessing Buckets are the organization’s disaster relief kits. They hope to prepare 2,000 buckets.

Johnson is continuing to monitor the storm closely and is ready to head to Florida as soon as the storm makes landfall.

The non-profit sent 28 tractor-trailer loads of relief supplies to North and South Carolina after Florence hit, distributing more than 7,500 Blessing Buckets in the Carolinas. Volunteers also worked on the ground for two weeks clearing debris, clearing out flood-damaged homes and putting tarps on roofs.
