AMHERST COUNTY, VA – A suspect in a fatal shooting in Nelson County was killed by Amherst County Sherriff’s deputies following a chase on Sunday.  The Virginia State Police have identified the suspect in the shooting as Anthony Mikai Hutchinson of Waynesboro.  Authorities in Amherst County received a lookout call for a Nissan Altima said to be involved in the earlier shooting death of Alexia Lockett.  Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle and a chase ensued.  Hutchinson crashed his vehicle after losing control near Spencer Mountain Road, and as officers got out of their cruisers the suspect opened fire wounding one officer in the leg.  Officers returned fire killing Hutchinson.  It has been confirmed that Hutchinson and Lockett were cousins.
