(Greensboro, N.C.) – Greensboro Police exchanged gunfire with a Danville murder suspect they were attempting to take into custody Monday afternoon.

The man — 30-year-old Diairion Marqui Davis, of Reidsville — was taken to Moses Cone Hospital with injuries that weren’t life-threatening. He’s believed to have killed Arthur OBrian Anderson, 31, who was shot on Rocklawn Avenue in north Danville around 2:30 Monday morning for reasons investigators are still trying to determine.

Greensboro Police found Davis at 3:25 p.m. Officers found him sitting in a car at the Hamptons at Country Park Apartments. That’s when he fired at police. Two officers returned gunfire, striking him. The officers were not injured and have been placed on administrative duty until an internal investigation is complete.

Danville Police say Davis will be extradited back to Virginia.

Arthur Obrian Anderson of Semora, North Carolina was found lying in the middle of the street in the 200 block of Rocklawn Avenue about 2:30 Monday morning, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken by ambulance to the emergency room of SOVAH Health Danville, where he later died.
