(Ruffin, N.C.) – A Ruffin man has been charged in a double shooting that happened a year ago.

36-year-old Jorge Antonio Perez Avis is charged in a May 21 shooting near Lera’s Nightclub on US 29 Business.

Investigators say Avis shot into a Lincoln Navigator, striking 22-year-old Quintin Leftwich of Roanoke and Sergia Nedia Soto, 21, of Rocky Mount. The two had just left the club at the time of the shooting.

Avis was indicted by a grand jury for shooting into an occupied vehicle inflicting serious injury. He was placed in the Rockingham County Detention Center under a $100,000 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in court on May 29.
