(Henry County, Va.) — The woman sought in an animal cruelty case in Henry County has been found. The sheriff’s office says Kayla Dalton turned herself in Thursday night and has been released on a $3,000 unsecured bond.

The 26-year-old woman is charged with dumping two emaciated puppies in a county landfill last summer. Animal Control officials say the puppies had been starved to the point that they could neither walk nor eat. A man who found them at the landfill last July tried to feed the puppies but they were unable to open their mouths. They were fed by hand and eventually recovered.

Dalton faces animal cruelty charges.
